recycling services
Altoona, PA recycling service center
At Burgmeier’s we believe in doing our part to protect the environment. As a company full of sportsman, we believe strongly in preserving our world and protecting our wildlife. Through the vision of our founder and CEO, we were an early adopter of recycling in Pennsylvania, and have spread that service out our service areas in Maryland and West Virginia.
three-stream recycling system
Our three-stream recycling system has allowed us to continue to offer some form of recycling in all of our service areas, even in rural areas where there may not be any recycling services available otherwise.
Co-mingling Recycling
This stream consists of a mixture of glass (all colors), plastics (#1 & #2), and common consumer metals such as aluminum and tin cans.
Paper Recycling
This steam is office paper, newspaper, magazines, soft back books all mixed together. In some residential recycling areas, we allow cardboard to be mixed in with this stream. This facilitates collection of one of the most produced recyclable products from a residence. All those Amazon boxes have to go somewhere.
Cardboard Dumpster Collection
In many of our service areas, we offer dumpsters to commercial properties for the collection of cardboard. This has multiple benefits. It reduces the amount of trash volume the business produces and keeps an in demand product out of the landfill. It also can help reduce waste expenses for the business as our recycling services charges are much lower per yard than traditional trash services.
material recovery facility in altoona, pa
Burgmeier’s Hauling owns and operate a material recovery facility at our corporate headquarters in Altoona PA where we sort, process and market recyclable materials everyday.
For contractors working on LEED certified construction projects, we offer several streams for common items from a job site such as wood, drywall, clean fill, cardboard, metals and more. For a fee we can sort the box and provide weights to meet your recycling requirements.
As a further commitment to the future of recycling we have invested in an automatic sorting facility which should be operational Q4 of 2022. This new facility will be the only automated recycling facility in our service area. This will allow to process a greater quantity of recycling than ever before and produce a better product ensuring that everything that can be recycled is.
